Reviews

Pro roads, Pro experience

I'm in two minds as to whether to post this review or not!
My friend and I were looking for a new destination after doing Mallorca to death- there's only so many times you can ride up Sa Colobra isn't there?
I had heard about Amicibici as they used to be based near me in the UK so decided to arrange a trip with them.
From arrival to departure the experience was first class.
We arrived into Nice and were met by Kat in the arrival area. We went straight to the van where we were greeted with drinks and snacks. Whist we got changed Gav built our bikes up and within 30 minutes of landing we were riding along the cycle path from Nice to San Remo!
Gav rode with us and knew the best roads to avoid the heavy traffic around Monaco which also allowed us to take in the famous Col d'Eze and Turbie climbs. A fast run along the coast then took us into San Remo.
The beauty of booking a trip with Amicibici was that there wasn't a wasted minute. Day 2- weather looked dodgy so we headed along the coast and took in the last 50 k's 0f Milan San Remo taking in the Cipressa and Poggio climbs. Another benefit of an insider guide is they knew the best cafes for coffee and lunches. There isn't a cyclist I know that doesn't like a good coffee and these were first rate (and also a third of the cost of the same drink on France).
Day 3 saw us head into the hills on deserted roads we would never have found without the expert guiding of Gav and Kat who have taken the time to research the area and seemed to know every road (there were a lot). We took in several climbs and got within 10k's of the summit of the Col de Turini but decided (wisely) to our round as the weather was coming in (a later look at the webcam showed 3 inches of snow at the top!).
We headed back over the Col de Castillon which was another awesome climb.
You only need to look at the Strava feed of many pro cyclists to see that these are their training roads and I can see why.
We finished with a 60k blast along the coast on the final morning before flying back.
3 nights, 4 rides, 411km, stunning scenery, great food and great company.
What are you waiting for? Roads every cyclist should ride and these are the guys to show them to you!
