Overview

This half-day walking tour of Nice highlights the region’s cuisine by taking you off the beaten path to cafés and eateries loved by locals. Across from the iconic Opera house of Nice lives, the oldest shop in Nice established in 1820. We will stop in for some sampling while discussing the historical relevance of the family business.

Marche de la Liberation

We will then hop on the tram and make our way to the true local market of Nice and do as the locals do, sample our way through the production of the season. We will visit our favorite Socca shop and even take in a drink at the farmer's and merchant's favorite watering hole.

Old Town

We will make our way to a restaurant for a lunch tasting and of course, some chilled local rose! We will then continue our tour visiting an olive oil producer and finish with a sweet treat!

Ally, our guide, was so incredibly knowledgeable of the history of Nice. She is also very popular with all the food purveyors on the tour. This was an absolutely wonderful day. So much to see and learn. Come hungry!

We toured with Ally is May and are still talking about how great of a tour we had. Ally is beyond knowledgeable about the secret spots off the beaten track of old town Nice, and the history of the city. Ally takes you on the tram out of the down town core to give you a unique experience at the more "locals market", where she shops for your lunch and you eat right in the market with the locals. This is truly a unique experience, and we left very full of amazing food and wine. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting Nice, it is worth every dollar.

Met up with our guide at a restaurant in Old Town… Vieux-Nice. This is the place you want to spend your time wandering around. So much to see, drink and eat. Ally was a great guide and host for our group of eight. Ally is from Canada originally and speaks great English. We started off with some local favorite dishes right there at the first restaurant. This gave us a chance to meet the other guests and then have a coffee for energy. We walked to numerous places including a wine shop and an olive oil and truffle shop(don’t miss the hazelnut/chocolate spread). We took a tram to another part of Nice and visited a fish, vegetable and meat market and of course ate samples all along the way. Oh, and we tried the only true Nice fast food, socca. We finished with amazing gelato. Great tour! I would do it again next time in Nice.Allie was a great guide!!!!!

Our guide Ally was very approachable and friendly. She made us very comfortable. As the tour progressed she was informative and very knowledgeable about the food, wine and all the historical landmarks that we visited. Everything she pointed out was very appropriate to the tour, and she even added extra information you would not find in a history book. I loved her style and she exceeded our expectations!!! We would highly recommend her and this tour. Best tour we had!!!
